3 Things You Can Do To Be More Eco At Your Office

3 Things You Can Do To Be More Eco At Your Office

I can definitely give you more than 3 reasons, but 3 helpful tips seem perfect to get you started. In this article, I will give you 3 tips on how to be more eco in your office without having to consult your office manager and easy ways to implement them.

1. The Water Fountain

Many of us use the water fountain as a way to stretch your legs, get hydrated, so you can refocus to perform better on the task at hand. Does your office still hand have a stack of paper or styrofoam cups? Ditch them! The obvious one here is to bring your own water bottle to work. This helps you take a step to become zero waste and I guarantee whichever bottle you choose to use will save you making multiple trips back and forth to the fountain all day.

Pro Tip! Leave a reusable water bottle, mug, or mason jar at your desk to avoid having to carry them to and from work. Just like that, you implemented this one tip in 3 different ways!

2. Pack Your Lunch

This one isn’t just going to help you be more eco in the office but you’ll have more green in your wallet! By packing your lunch you will eliminate the use of the container they place the food in. Usually these containers are made from plastic, styrofoam, or cardboard. Another wasteful thing is the takeaway bags. Commonly used are paper and plastics. Avoid this by bringing your own lunch from home!

Pro Tip! Make this transition as easy as possible by packing your lunch the night before. Also use a reusable tin as opposed to the glass. Glass can add a lot of unnecessary weight to your bag.

3. Coffee & Tea

Let’s face it, in the mornings we need a kick of caffeine to get into gear. How about that 3 p.m. pick me up? Whether you fancy coffee or tea the same rules apply. First, use a mug. Second, for my tea drinkers try using loose leaf tea. For my coffee drinkers ditch the K cups and have one community filter. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start.

Pro Tip! Buying in bulk is key here. Buy the tea leaves in bulk, the filters, and if you really want to take it that step further, if your office composts you can compost the coffee filter and grinds.

Here you have it, 3 ways you can be more eco in your office all on your own. Try this out for yourself and see if this is something that you would want to implement among the rest of the staff.
