Stainless Steel Straws vs Paper Straws in 2020

Stainless Steel Straws VS Paper Straws in 2020

Intro: You are on a mission to find an alternative solution to plastic straws but simple do not know where to begin. We understand, there are so many creative alternatives popping up word wide. But now the question is “which one is really better?” Keep reading to find the answer to see which alternative is better between stainless steel or paper when given the choice.

Paper Straws

Paper straws got a lot of attention because that was the quick fix when local legislation banned the use of plastic straws. Paper straws got a bad rep for one soggy reason, they quickly dissolved in drinks as people were using them…(gross). Not only was this unpleasant, but it required the use of multiple paper straws for just one drink. The bigger point to be made here is that paper is still a waste product. Paper is still a disposable and doesn’t change our bad habits as humans but just replaced the type of waste it created. Oppose to plastic being thrown into the trash and building up in landfills and oceans, now paper is being collected and thrown away respectively.

The whole point is to avoid the use of single use products, not just single use plastics. The material does break down more easily than plastic as you saw in your coca-cola beverage. Which means that when it breaks down in the environment it does cause less of a threat to the wild animal life and our ecosystems. However, like I mentioned earlier, we are just replacing the problem of plastic with paper.

Stainless Steel or Metal Straws

The common thread here is finding a product that is for multiple uses not just single uses. And the reality of this single use stuff is convenient. It taught us to be mindless and to not think about the action of tossing something away. This convenience turned all of us to a blind eye on the damage we inflicted on the planet and wildlife.

So yes, stainless steel is a little less convenient. We now have to remember to bring our straws with us and properly clean them as we would all of our other cutlery. However, it takes 21 days to make anything a habit. Once we start this new habit, by replacing something good in replace of our old bad habits it will feel like it wasn’t that big of a deal at all.

Stainless steel is a durable metal, which means it can withstand our rough and rushed lifestyle without fear of breaking. metal straws really give you your hard earned moneys worth, they will last you a lifetime.

Conclusion

The war of metal straws vs paper straws, the verdict is that metal straws are better for the environment because the life expectancy of the metal straws. Metal straws eliminate the single use factor which ultimately keeps our wildlife and ecosystems safe from unnecessary pollutants. • Simply they are not meant for the purpose intended. A comical example they give “They are more like carrying water home in a paper boat made by a child.”
